David was inspired to develop his Combines Series by the work of the American artist James Rosenquist who, in the 1960s “combined” images together that would not normally be associated in any way with each other. David's “E” TAG Series was born of the confusion and frustration which he felt was created by the information overload of driving around Sydney's Harbour Bridge area.
