Profile: artist's statement
I've been a professional artist for over a decade now and developed my work initially with photo–realism — but am now also developing a more adventurous style of painting.
Whilst I still continue to enjoy accurate and life–like representation (especially in portraiture and illustration), I am now looking to add a story and emotive element into my work.
Living near Sydney's famous King’s Cross, I have found a way to interpret the area and its colourful locals in a way that challenges and intrigues the eye, combining my different genres together (portraiture, reflections, landscape etc.) on the one canvas. I am following this new direction for future works, which will still have realist elements together with simplification and a twist of surrealism for viewer interpretation.
The work displayed in my portfolio gives insight into my versatility. I am happy to take commissions in any of the styles represented in my portfolio and cordially welcome all enquiries about my work.
